Weeping forsythia 连翘

Weeping forsythia (lat. Forsythia suspensa) is a shrub of the family Mignonaceae. Its dried
fruits are used in TCM.

Taste, Characteristic, and Meridian

Bitter, slightly cold by nature. Returns to the lung,
heart, small intestine meridians.

Value in Traditional Chinese Medicine

Clears heat and removes toxins, subdues swelling and removes stasis, dispells wind and heat from the body. It is used in treating abscesses, scrofula, acute mastitis,
erysipelas, wind-heat type common cold, the onset of epidemic diseases, heat entering the „ying“ section, high fever and thirst, fainting and red spots, and urinary infection and pain
caused by heat.
