Bupleurum (Bupleurum chinense) is a plant from family Umbelliferae. The dried roots of this
plant are used in traditional Chinese medicine.

Pungent, bitter, slightly cold in nature.
Returns to the liver, gallbladder and lung meridians.

Balances exterior and interior of the body, soothes liver-qi stagnation, elevating the yang and lifts qi, subdues fever and stops malaria.
It is used for treating colds and fever, alternating spells of fever and chills, distension and pain in the chest and hypochondrium, menstrual disorders, uterine prolapse and prolapse of anus.
