Great burnet (lat. Sanguisorba officinalis) is a plant from family Rosaceae. Dried roots of this plant are used in TCM.

Bitter, sour, astringent, slightly cold in nature. Returns to the liver and large intestine meridians.
Value in Traditional Chinese Medicine
Cools the blood to stop bleeding, detoxifies and heals abscesses.
It is used in treating blood in stool, hemorrhoids, dysentery with bloody stool, metrorrhagia and metrostaxis, scalds, abscesses.
