Seaweed 海藻

Seaweed (Sargassum pallidum) is an algae from family Sargassaceae. Dried seaweed is used in TCM.

Taste, Characteristic, and Meridian

Bitter, salty, cold in nature. Returns to the liver, stomach and kidney meridians.

Value in Traditional Chinese Medicine

Dissolves phlegm, softens and disperses hard lumps, induces diuresis and reduces swelling.
It is used in treating gall tumors, scrofula, testicular swelling and pain, phlegm and edema.
