
Mint 薄荷
Mint is in the Lamiaceae plant family, also known as other dry whole grasses in the same genus. Mint is used medicinally as a TCM herb. It is also used as a substitute for tea and as a spice for its fragrance.

Spicy in taste and cool in nature it returns to the lung and liver meridians. It can evacuate wind heat, clear and benefit the head, promote throat health and clear rashes, and promote liver and qi circulation.
Value in Traditional Chinese Medicine
Mint is a very popular herb not only for its medicinal qualities but also for its fragrance and used as a tea and spice. Rarely used as a main component in TCM formulas, it can be a supplement and can clear exogenous wind heat, headache, sore throat, food stagnation and bloating. It is also used for oral ulcers, toothache, scabies, rashes, initial onset of warm diseases such as rubella and itching. Finally in combination with other herbs it can alleviate liver depression and qi stagnation, chest tightness and flank pain.
